The most popular place for hiking in Slovakia is the High Tatras. No doubt. But, locals know more places worth of visiting. The Slovak Paradise is one of those and may be pretty busy on a nice summer Saturday, because it´s different than any other Slovak mountains. There are not any high peaks, so what does it make so popular? The hikes that follow a system of ladders, catwalks and bridges past waterfalls and lush vegetation in the park’s remarkable gorges. If you don´t know, whether you will be able to hike there, imagine climbing to the 3rd floor of a building on a ladder.
There are enough trails to walk for a week, but even in couple of days, you can walk through the most impressive gorges and visit the best places. If you decide to go there, don´t miss out Sucha Bela, Piecky, Velky Sokol or Prielom Hornadu gorges. If you are afraid of heights, you can go for example to Tomasovsky Vyhlad viewpoint. It´s an easy walk through forest and you can avoid all the ladders.
If you can´t imagine, how does it look like there, you can watch the video above and see the photos below. I recommend to change the quality of the video to 720p, for better experience. 🙂 The video and photos sum up, what you can see and experience there during a weekend.
If you are wondering, how to get there, I have a good news for travellers from the UK. You can fly to Poprad (30 minutes far away) or Košice Airports (1 and half hrs far away) from London Luton with low cost airlines Wizz Air. You can fly to Košice Airport even from Bristol and Doncaster.
If you are solo traveller (couples and groups are welcomed as well), you can join our adventure weekend in the Slovak Paradise. We will visit the places shown in the video and in the photos. We will meet at Krakow Airport in Poland on Thursday evening. On Sunday evening you will be back in the UK. We will be hiking on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well.
